Our client is an “American Friends of” organization. Their headquarters are located in Israel. This full-time position based in New York, currently remote due to Covid-19, will be responsible for the daily administration of the organization’s finance and accounting functions, supporting accounts payable, banking, donations processing and payroll operations and ensuring that these are maintained in an effective, accurate and timely manner.

The Accounting Associate will exercise a high level of accountability and attention to detail and will demonstrate an ability to work both independently and within a team environment, ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal policies and procedures, and industry-specific rules and regulations. The position reports to the Director of Finance.


  • Administer full-cycle Accounts Payable, including ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data, managing payment disbursements, generating AP reports, and resolving billing issues
  • Maintain general ledger transactions within QuickBooks, including detailed data entry to ensure clear documentation of all transactions
  • Maintain banking operations and accountability of transactions on a daily basis, and conduct relevant account reconciliations
  • Partner with fundraising support staff to support accurate revenue tracking
  • Manage the corporate credit card program and employee expense reimbursements
  • Oversee administration of purchase orders and other procurement processes
  • Assist with payroll and HR administration
  • Support monthly close activities, including posting of journal entries, tracking of balance sheet activity, and financial reporting/analysis
  • Assist with annual preparation, review, distribution of Form 1099
  • Provide support for annual organizational audit


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or comparable, with 3-5 years’ related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger systems and financial chart of accounts and procedures
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of Salesforce, a plus
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and interact with vendors and staff at all levels in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in conjunction with other team members to achieve common objectives
  • Experience within a non-profit environment strongly preferred
  • U.S. work authorization is required
