The Senior Development Associate will work in partnership with the President, the Executive Vice President, other staff and ZOA leadership, to manage all elements of ZOA’s fundraising programs, working to ensure that ZOA reaches its annual revenue goals through major gifts and foundation gifts, solicitations regionally, direct mail, on-line giving, and planned gifts.  Reports to: Executive Vice President

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of ZOA’s major gift program raising $3.5 million including: scheduling of donor meetings; expanding and qualifying the list of major gift prospects; creating new tools for cultivation and solicitation
  • Coordination of ZOA’s regional solicitation efforts
  • Solicitation of foundation gifts
  • Responsibility for donor recognition at the national level
  • Oversight of ZOA’s planned giving efforts, including the administration of existing planned gifts and marketing of planned gifts to ZOA’s donors
  • Management of ZOA’s national direct mail program and on-line fundraising efforts
  • Analysis of ZOA’s giving base and the creation of strategies for strengthening ZOA’s fundraising efforts
  • Oversight of donation processing and the updating of ZOA’s donor database
  • Responding to inquiries and questions from donors about gifts and acknowledgments

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Marketing of donor-related opportunities
  • Coordination with ZOA’s outreach and engagement efforts
  • Assisting in the recruitment for national programs and missions
  • Identifying appropriate prospects for leadership involvement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years fundraising experience
  • Passion for ZOA’s mission
  • Pride and professionalism in work accomplishments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to creatively and practically solve problems and to multi-task
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and lay leadership
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; able to identify and pursue opportunities
  • Availability for travel around the country, and for some early morning, evening and weekend meetings
  • Knowledge of the American Jewish community
