They seek to hire a Director of Development, the primary professional responsible for crafting, managing, and implementing their comprehensive development plan, in partnership with the executive director, development committee, and members of the board of directors.

In addition to managing the three foci of their Development plan (Today, Tomorrow, and Forever) alumni outreach, year-round engagement of our stakeholders, as well as welcoming guests and donors to their overnight and Day Camp during the summer season are all part of this exciting, senior management portfolio.

The Development Director also oversees key elements of the organization’s strategic marketing, including direct mailings, email campaigns, video campaigns, and the creation of our annual report. The Development Director oversees the Development Assistant and reports directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and Executing the Comprehensive Development Plan
    • Today – Manage and Grow our Annual Chai Campaign
      • Raises over $450,000 annually for scholarship, programming and capital improvements at all our camp programs, through mailing, direct solicitations, and parlor meetings
      • Choose, train and work with Chai Campaign Chairs
      • Create concept for and write copy for direct mail piece working with outside graphic design team
      • Work with the communications team to create a comprehensive marketing strategy for the campaign
      • Partner with executive director, campaign chairs and committee members, and the board of directors in direct solicitations, data tracking, and campaign reporting
      • Plan for and execute yearly ‘Thank You’ dinners for our top donors
      • Seek and solicit foundational grants for key projects and manage the reporting for those grants
    • Tomorrow – Comprehensive Capital Campaign
      • Work closely with the executive director and the board of directors in implementing the suggestions of the recently completed pre-campaign assessment
      • Contact top donors to schedule donor-relations/qualifying meetings
      • Oversee comprehensive capital campaign ad hoc committee
      • Work with architects creating design concepts for key signature buildings for the comprehensive capital campaign
      • Create the marketing materials to best translate the vision of the campaign with our community of stakeholders
    • ForeverMoreshet Ramah Legacy Society
      • Educate board and community about legacy society
      • Work with Legacy Society subcommittee to engage new members
      • Create branding and marketing with graphic design team
      • Direct solicitations of prospective members of our legacy society
      • Solidifying gifts through the creation of formalized donor agreements
  • Donor Relations
    • Develop strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for donors
      • Create and implement monthly stewarding calendar for top 15 donors
      • Design and executive year-long development calendar of touch-points for donors
      • Build a culture of relational philanthropy with our top donors and stakeholders
  • Board Development
    • Work closely with our mentor from JCamp180 to create professional and board development opportunities for our organization
    • Design and lead board development trainings at board meetings
    • Support president, executive committee, and executive director in board member selection, orientation, and development
  • Development Committee
    • Lead monthly meetings with development committee chair and volunteers
    • Meet with subcommittees for visiting day, Gesher Gift, Rabbinic Yom Iyyun, Grandparents Day, and other special events
  • Annual Report
    • Write, edit and create theme for annual report working with outside graphic design team
    • Present to top donors via mail, website and at our Chai Society thank you Dinner
  • Summertime Responsibilities
    • Manage the development portfolio from the Philadelphia office during the week
    • Welcome guests, donors, and prospective donors to Camp Ramah in the Poconos on visiting weekends
    • Plan, partner and participate in summertime donor-relation events at Camp Ramah in the Poconos, Ramah Day Camp, or our Tikvah programs
