Our client is a private Modern Orthodox Jewish day school located in New Jersey. They are seeking a seasoned executive with two primary qualifications:

  1. Operations – the person should have strong operations experience, ideally, in a private school setting of similar or larger size. The person should be strong in establishing and maintaining the systems that successfully run a school at scale.
  2. Leadership Development – the person should have expertise in providing guidance, development and oversight to the Administration of the school. This includes developing young leaders as well as succession planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage and supervise the Functional Leaders (Business Office, Head of Security, IT, Health Office, Facilities, transportation, PR/communications/Marketing, Human Resources, Food Service)
    • Health Office includes covid policies, opening/closing school or parts of the school, testing requirements, health policies
    • Transportation includes busing, parking lot coordination, arrival/dismissal
    • Business Office includes grants, managing relationship with NJ and MOESC (Develop relationship with Ocean Township to create more opportunities for educational services and funding), the school procurement process, annual budget planning and tracking,
    • Human Resources does not exist yet as a separate department, it is a part of the Business Office. In the future, this would likely be a new position.
  • Co-supervision of the Educational Division Leaders (ELC, ES, MS, HS)1 along with Rosh Yeshiva (religious and spiritual Head of School)
  • Defines and supervises the process for key educational functions
    • Discipline/Behavior/Classroom management
    • Professional Development
    • Teacher performance reviews and feedback – establishing a common framework across the school for formal/informal reviews during the year
    • Student performance assessment and analytics – Analyze student performance data and assess progress in supporting best student outcomes.
    • Curriculum development – curriculum content/quality and alignment across the school
    • Special Ed
  • Recruiting
    • Improves the recruiting process including builds up the talent pipeline for future open positions.
    • Actively participates in recruitment of key leadership positions
  • Cross school Coordination & Decision-making: Lead the decision-making process for cross-school decisions that cut across functional areas (eg Facilities, security, budget, transportation, health) and educational divisions (ELC, ES, MS, HS) such as snow days, professional development schedule, scheduling events (eg ES PD on same night as HS Open house, or HS dismissing early, etc). School-wide programming (yom haatzmaut, Day of positivity, Israeli Day Parade)
  • Responsible for leading the Lay Leadership and Administration in refining the school philosophy and vision and long-term goals and strategy for the school.
